Payment Policy
Last Updated: November 09, 2025
NiceFreelance ("we," "us," or "our") runs the NiceFreelance.com freelance marketplace platform (the "Platform"). This Payment Policy is part of our Terms of Service and applies to all money matters on the site — including fees, payments, refunds, and legal compliance.
By sending or receiving payments on NiceFreelance.com, you accept this policy. All transactions must go through our secure in-platform payment system.
1. How Payments Work
All project payments between clients and freelancers must be processed through NiceFreelance.com. Paying or receiving money outside the platform is not allowed and can lead to account suspension or permanent removal.
Clients must deposit funds for milestones or full projects before work starts. These funds are held safely in escrow until the work is approved or the project is finished.
2. Platform Fees
NiceFreelance charges a service fee to both clients and freelancers. The exact percentage is shown clearly during checkout and is automatically deducted.
- Client Fee: Added to the total project cost at payment.
- Freelancer Fee: Taken from the amount released from escrow.
Fees are non-refundable unless specifically stated in our Refund Policy (Section 4).
3. Payment Options & Security
We support major credit/debit cards, bank transfers, and popular digital wallets. You must keep your payment details current and accurate.
All transactions are handled by trusted, PCI DSS-compliant payment processors. NiceFreelance does not store full card numbers.
If currency conversion is needed, we use real-time rates from our payment partner, plus any standard conversion fees.
4. Refunds and Disputes
Refunds are issued only if:
- The project is canceled before the freelancer accepts
- Both client and freelancer agree to cancel
- NiceFreelance confirms non-delivery or a serious breach of agreement
Disputes must be opened within 14 days of milestone approval or project closure. We can help mediate, but aren’t required to refund. Frequent disputes may trigger an account review.
Approved refunds go back to the original payment method, minus non-refundable fees.
5. Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)
For users in the EEA or UK, payments may require two-step verification (like 3D Secure, OTP, or biometrics) under PSD2 rules. If you skip this step, the payment may fail.
6. Taxes & Compliance
You’re responsible for any taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax, etc.) on services you provide or receive. NiceFreelance may collect and pay taxes where required by law.
Freelancers in taxable regions should submit a valid VAT ID if applicable. Clients may see tax added at checkout in certain countries.
7. What You Can’t Do
Do not use NiceFreelance.com for:
- Payments tied to illegal activities
- Trying to avoid fees or escrow
- Fake chargebacks or reversals
- Transactions that break export laws or sanctions
Violations can result in frozen funds, account closure, and reports to authorities.
8. Escrow and Payouts
Funds stay in escrow until:
- The client approves a milestone
- The full project is completed and accepted
- A dispute is resolved in the freelancer’s favor
Freelancers are paid within 3–5 business days after release, minus fees.
9. Chargebacks
Filing a chargeback without first using our dispute process may suspend your account. We will fight unfair chargebacks and may deduct related costs from your balance.
Important: This Payment Policy may be updated. Using payment features after changes means you accept the new version.
